While visiting Manhattan we booked a Broadway play and decided to make a dinner reservation near the theatre.  We had no idea we were in for a memorable meal at La Masseria.  It has 1 Michelin Star!

The inside is spacious and there is a large outside patio.

We purposely made an early reservation so that we could take our time.  Our waiter (who talked like Joe Pesci) was efficient and very personable.  We reviewed the menu.

A wonderful, fresh basket of breads arrived along with a delicious caper oil for dipping.

My wife and son Thomas and I split a beef carpaccio three ways - the arugula was very fresh, the parmigiano was copious and the beef was so tender.  The entire plate was huge and cold.

My wife and son chose for their main the gnocchi.  They were like marshmallow pillows - the best they ever had!!

For my main I chose the fettuccine bolognese.  The pasta was house made and extremely thin and very tender.  The bolognese was filled with flavour and very generous.

 For desert - I was excited to see tartuffo and it did not disappoint - it was well presented and yummy.

My wife had the tiramisu and it was very light and generous.

Thomas had the creme brulee it was large and delicious.

This was one of the finest meals we have had in any Italian restaurant anywhere.  The service was excellent and the food was divine!  We highly recommend it when in New York!!

FLOUR AND BARLEY

Located on the Linq behind the Flamingo Hotel and Casino is a large, reasonably priced restaurant.

It has a large interior and a very large patio.

We sat on the patio and ordered a litre of their house red. 

The menu has a nice variety of choices.

We decided to split the arugula and kale salad - it was amazing, the ingredients were unique and included artichokes, mushrooms and pine nuts.  It was large and easily split.  The flavours were fabulous!

My wife had the grilled salmon with broccolini and roast potato in a lemon caper sauce.  It was a large meal but very tasty.

I chose the shrimp scampi in a garlic lemon sauce with spaghettini.  The shrimp were large and very tender.

This was a good meal and good value in a nice location on the newly developed linq.

SERENDIPITY 3

Located outside Caesar's Palace directly on the strip Serendipity has a variety of offerings to dine on. 

There is also an inside restaurant - but we decided to enjoy the Las Vegas weather and sat on the outside patio.

The menu has a good variety of choices - we came for breakfast.

They also have an amazing drinks and desert menu.

My wife chose the 2 pancakes and they were gigantic!!

I chose the Central Park Omelette (they didn't have egg whites) that included spinach, swiss cheese and avocado.  It was served with breakfast potatoes.

The meals were rather expensive for breakfast at $18 each and it seemed they tried to justify this by serving very large portions that were difficult to finish.  We finished with coffee but did not finish our meals.

GUY FIERI'S VEGAS KITCHEN + BAR

3535 Las Vegas Blvd. LINQ hotel, (702) 731-3311, 8 am to 2 am 7 days a week.

Located in the LINQ hotel and casino, with a large patio outside.  Guy Fieri's is a popular restaurant on the strip.  We came here for breakfast, which seemed to be popular here.

Since it was already hot outside we decided to eat our late breakfast inside.

My wife decided to try the shortbread pancake and berry "pot pie".  It was gigantic, but very tasty and filled inside with berries.

I decided on the safe choice bacon and eggs.

It was enormous and the home fries were very soft and tasty.
The sage biscuit was large and very filling.  This meal would last till supper!!

Our breakfasts were very good and very filling. We will probably return again when back in Vegas.  By the way they serve a mean Bloody Mary for breakfast!  You can choose ingredients to add by checking boxes on a list.

Some fellows beside us ordered them - they looked like a good morning appetizer!!  Only in Vegas!!

IL FORNAIO

Located in New York New York hotel and casino, Il Fornalo is a great place for a fresh pasta dinner.  We discovered it after visiting another restaurant here and decided to try it.  It was awesome!

We ordered a nice Chianti to start 

This was followed by a nice order of calamari fritti 

My wife had the Cannelloni al Forno filled with rotisserie chicken, sun dried tomatoes, ricotta, pecorino, smoked mozzarella, and topped with organic spinach, bechamel, marinara and mushrooms - they were unreal

I had the ravioli with squash and walnuts Cappellacci Di Zucca- it was heavenly - the pasta was obviously house made and the brown butter sage sauce and tomato sauce with crispy sage was very tasty!  We found the portions satisfying and the prices very reasonable here!!!

My wife finished with a nice Cappuccino 

I had a double long espresso and it was great

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and will definitely return when visiting Vegas.  We highly recommend you try it when you visit Vegas!!
