Located on the Linq behind the Flamingo Hotel and Casino is a large, reasonably priced restaurant.

It has a large interior and a very large patio.

We sat on the patio and ordered a litre of their house red. 

The menu has a nice variety of choices.

We decided to split the arugula and kale salad - it was amazing, the ingredients were unique and included artichokes, mushrooms and pine nuts.  It was large and easily split.  The flavours were fabulous!

My wife had the grilled salmon with broccolini and roast potato in a lemon caper sauce.  It was a large meal but very tasty.

I chose the shrimp scampi in a garlic lemon sauce with spaghettini.  The shrimp were large and very tender.

This was a good meal and good value in a nice location on the newly developed linq.

SERENDIPITY 3

Located outside Caesar's Palace directly on the strip Serendipity has a variety of offerings to dine on. 

There is also an inside restaurant - but we decided to enjoy the Las Vegas weather and sat on the outside patio.

The menu has a good variety of choices - we came for breakfast.

They also have an amazing drinks and desert menu.

My wife chose the 2 pancakes and they were gigantic!!

I chose the Central Park Omelette (they didn't have egg whites) that included spinach, swiss cheese and avocado.  It was served with breakfast potatoes.

The meals were rather expensive for breakfast at $18 each and it seemed they tried to justify this by serving very large portions that were difficult to finish.  We finished with coffee but did not finish our meals.

DAL TORO AT LAMBORGHINI

We came here after seeing their sign posted at the entry $9.99 breakfast.  We decided to try it and we were glad we did.  It was a normal size breakfast with just enough food to make us ready for the day without overdoing it.

Located in the Palazzo hotel and casino, it fronts right on the strip with a lovely view and location.

We both selected the basic breakfast, my wife chose eggs easy over.

I chose scrambled.

The dollar pancakes were delicious and the meal was just the right size! We came back a couple of times here - it was very good for the price.  We will come back again when in Vegas!

BISTRO SIX ONE

On a cool, but sunny March afternoon my wife and I decided to take a drive to one of our favourite tourist places, Niagara on the Lake.  It is a quaint and historic village that has the famous Shaw theatre, along with a variety of boutiques and restaurants.  Being the off season for tourists, some shops were closed, but the restaurants were all open.  We decided to try Bistro Six One after reading their menu posted near the front door.

The inside has a variety of booth seating which we like.

Located in the centre of Ontario's wine region, restaurants here tend to feature the local wineries in their wine lists.  We chose our favourite local wine from Jackson Triggs, their Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blend VQA, a full bodied red with a rich flavour.

The menu has a nice variety to choose from including wood oven pizza, sandwiches, salads and mains.  

Since it was late afternoon, we decided on a salad and sandwich.  We both chose the Caesar salad.  The romaine was fresh and crisp, the bacon was real and the parmesan cheese and croutons were delicious.

For her sandwich, my wife chose the ham and brie melt on multigrain bread.  It had thin layers of smoked ham, soft brie cheese and a wonderful pepper jelly that was very tasty.  It was accompanied by a mound of french fries.

I decided on the grilled chicken ciabatta.  It had tender grilled chicken, lettuce, bacon and cheese.  The bread was crisp and fresh and the sandwich was excellent.  It too, was served with fries.

It was a wonderful meal in a peaceful restaurant with nice music and good wine.  We will definitely be back again.

SON OF A PEACH 

#62 - 2049 Pine Street, Burlington, On. (905) 632-4040 

A new pizzeria located in downtown Burlington at the Village Square complex, Son of a Peach has taken a dreary storefront and brightened it up to give it a new life.  My son suggested we try it for dinner.

The interior is bright and new and very welcoming.

We selected the garlic knots made with fresh garlic, parmigiano regiano, herb butter.  They were delicious!!

Tom and his friend shared the JJ's Hawaiian pizza, which consisted of homemade tomato sauce, pineapple chunks, double smoked apple wood bacon, cherry pink pea meal bacon, house pickled jalapenos, with whole milk and virgin mozzarella.  Expensive at $33.

My wife and I tried their wild mushroom pizza.  It consisted of house made tomato sauce, garlic, thyme and white wine roasted mushrooms, whole milk and virgin mozzarella.  It was loaded, but at $31 not cheap.

We decided to try a couple of glasses of the 13 th street winery red blend.  All in all we liked the environment and music here.  The clientele were upscale hipster and seemed at home in here.  The food was alright but pricey, maybe in time they will expand their menu.  The service was great.  Their website needs work.  Get rid of the silly name!!!
