KELSEY'S

Three of us decided to go to Kelsey's on a Friday afternoon in June for lunch.  This particular one was located on Guelph Line just above the Lakeshore.  

We found the interior similar to all other Kelsey's.  It had a variety of seating options.  We were led to a nice booth and ordered some Coronas.

We decided to go light for lunch.  My wife and I ordered the sesame chicken salad.  It was delicious.

Mark, our son decided to order a couple of appetizers.  He chose popcorn shrimp.  They were very tasty, crispy and with a nice spicy jalapeno flavour, accompanied by a sweet and spicy Thai chili sauce.

Mark also had their four cheese spinach dip and it was surrounded with numerous deep fried pita triangles.  Three people could share this app easily.

Our lunches were very enjoyable and reasonably priced.  We will definitely return to explore more of their current menu offerings.  A good restaurant with a good selection of food.

ROLLY ROCKET'S 

470 King St. West, Hamilton On. (905) 393-3555, Open for Lunch, Dinner, Late night 7 days a week.

Decided to try Rolly Rocket's for dinner. This restaurant has been around for a few years now and has a regular following in the downtown.  It is basically a bbq ribs and chicken kind of place that is very informal and kitschy.  It has picnic tables for furniture and rock music in the background. 

The menu has an extensive list of bbq items. The interior is furnished with picnic tables and is very informal.

There is a bar that extends around into the pool table area.

There are rolls of paper towel on the tables reminding you that your hands  will get messy.

For my meal I chose 2 pounds of wings one in mild sauce and one in dry rub.

My son Thomas chose the pulled pork dinner.  It came with 3 pulled pork sliders, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, a maple covered cornbread biscuit and a cup of baked beans.  It was gigantic and he had to take the leftovers home.

All in all it was a good hearty meal.  We were full and everything tasted quite good.  The coleslaw was especially tasty.  They have karaoke on Fridays!

PRAVDA VODKA BAR 

44 Wellington Street E. Toronto, On., (416) 366-0303 Dinner and Late Night Mon. to Sat.

We came upon Pravda Vodka Bar after dinner at a nearby restaurant called Bravi.  The exterior looked interesting.

The inside was quite spectacular and we had a chance to get a good look around the place before the evening crowd started to arrive.

On our way to the upstairs bar we came across a trumpet player playing a jazz tune.

The upstairs is as dramatic as the downstairs.

The menu of vodkas and martinis is extensive!

We decided to choose from their extensive martini list and selected a wonderful tasty martini called a Trotsky Lemon Berry Martini.  It was outstanding, so we had a couple of them.

It was accompanied by an amuse bouche that was light and very tasty.

There is a grand piano used some evenings with entertainment.

The surroundings here are unusual and quite dramatic.  The martinis are awesome and we enjoyed our time here.  Although we did not eat here, we will be back to try more of their martinis and soak in the sights of this space.

THE CONSORT BAR

We went to the Consort bar for drinks Friday night after visiting the St. Lawrence Market and having dinner at the Hot House.  This bar is located in the lobby area of the King Edward Hotel on King Street East.

There is a good selection of appetizers, sharing plates and small mains on the menu.

Decided to have a cocktail in the bar, since we had just finished a large dinner.  The bar is calm, dark and comfortable.  

We sat in high back chairs at a large window overlooking King Street and had a large Grey Goose Martini with a twist.  It was delicious, as were the snacks served in a bowl with the drink (a nice touch).  

We will definitely be returning here for libations in the future.  The menu however, did look rather pricey for the selections I saw being served.  The drinks are also rather pricey here.

We now return often and really enjoy the calmness of the bar and their wonderful cocktails.
