THOMPSON HOTEL

THOMPSON HOTEL (lobby bar)

550 Wellington Street, West, Toronto, On. (416) 601-3533
Wandering in the King West and Portland area of Toronto, on a hot humid Saturday in July, we got a hankering for a nice cold scotch.  Since we were near the Thompson we decided to give the lobby bar a try.  It is located in the lobby of the Thompson Hotel.

The interior of the Lobby Bar is reminiscent of the Drake - with a rather funky motif of art deco furniture  and funky art.

We decide to order three single malt scotches on ice. Two of us had the Macallan 12 year old single malt, while I had the Glenlivet 15 year old.
It was a good chill zone for people watching and relaxation.  There was a wedding getting ready at one end of the bar and a girls party at the other end (the bar is very wide, airy and spacious).  Unfortunately we did not receive any complementary bar snacks, which is not very nice. The scotches were very expensive here, averaging $16 per 1 and a half ounces, the total bill with tax was $54.24 - but then it is the Thompson.
